What To Buy (& What Not To Buy) From Sezane
My best purchases, the things I've returned + menswear favourites.
I asked on my Instagram stories over the weekend what your favourite online stores are (so I can know where you want me to link from) and one of the top answers was Sezane. I’ve been shopping at Sezane since 2018 and I keep going back every season. I am a huge fan too. The french just do things right when it comes to fashion.
So I figured I would share some of my top purchases/recommendations, along with some items I ended up returning (& the reason why). I always see creators sharing their shopping successes but I honestly think it’s just as helpful to know what items made it to the ‘return’ pile. It saves us all time.
Trousers - This is by far my favourite Sezane category. My most worn trousers are from this brand….& I just recently found the creme de le creme pair. The ‘Matheo’ tailored trouser. If you trust me on just one thing from this article, trust me on this. They are INCREDIBLE! The fit, the length, the way they lengthen your legs. 100000/10. I got them in Ecru (cream) and plan on purchasing the Black next.
The Basics - I truly believe once you have good basics in your closet (tshirts, tanks, shirts), it is so much easier to put outfits together and Sezane is one of my go to brands for these. The Juan Tank Top (I have multiple of both the black and white - so flattering on), the Amara T Shirt and the Tomboy Shirt are my top 3 in this category. I’ll never be without these.
Trench Coats - The Scott Trench Coat is the ultimate classic. I love to wear it every Autumn and then again in Spring. I’ve had it in camel for a few seasons now and this year I’m eyeing up the kaki green. Also how cute is this cropped version? Love the checked lining.
Occasionwear - Admittedly, I tend to shop at Sezane for my more capsule wardrobe pieces but now and again I have found some fancier/occasion wear gems. My favourite being this stunning 2-piece set I bought this year. I actually wore this set to the day 2 of two weddings I had and I got so many compliments. Also love that I can wear both items separately too.
Accessories - One of their most underrated categories is definitely their accessories. I am a Sezane belt super fan - I think for the price, they are some of the best quality belts online right now. The Livie Belt in black is my go to (I also bought it for my Mom and she wears it so much) and this new Lisa style that they just launched looks amazing too. Definitely check out their full belt (& jewellery) collections.
Bags - Another thing the french are verrry good at. The Claude Bag is one of my favourite purchases ever and next on my wishist is its sister - The Milo Classic in chocolate. How stunning! Both are incredibly chic.
Shoes - Finally in my ‘what to buy’ section, I can’t finish without mentioning their gorgeous shoe collection. I truly believe it gets better each year & I especially love their Autumn/Winter collections. I currently have my eye on these black ankle boots, these cute brown ballerina flats and the Theodora Knee High Boots. Anything leather from Sezane is always 10/10.
And now that we’ve had a chat about the ‘good’ - it’s time to share some of my Sezane shopping fails.
Denim - This might be an unpopular opinion but I’m just not a fan of their denim collection. I've tried several styles and being completely honest, I just don’t think they fit well. There’s just always some off. Love their tailored trousers but don’t think their denim is perfect just yet.
Knitwear - Sezane have always been known for their knitwear and don’t get me wrong, I have a few organic cotton & wool pieces (which don’t seem to be available anymore) that I love but overall, this just isn’t my favourite category of theirs. Again probably an unpopular opinion but I have to be honest. The main purchases I had an issue with are the Gaspard & Barry Cardigans. Guys they are so itchy!! They’re a mix of mohair, Baby Alpaca & Polyamide - which just doesn’t feel good in my opinion. I’ll be sticking with their organic cotton options.
Jackets - Specifically the ‘Will Jacket’. I saw this on a few people I follow and thought it was really cool so I ordered the denim & suede to try and just really didn’t end up loving either of them on me. Surprisingly, I just found it a hard piece to style. I think their blazers are a better option.
I would love for you to let me know in the comments your top buys? And also let me know what Sezane purchases disappointed you.
Lastly, if you have a male in your life - don’t sleep on their menswear collection. It is amazing! I shop for Tommy on there all the time and he loves everything I order. Below are his most worn. The Charlie shirts are great and he really loves this sweater.
From Left to Right (Clockwise): Chuck Sweater / Oxford Charlie White Shirt / Lars Beige Shirt / Velvet Charlie Grey Shirt / Flannel Charlie Navy Shirt
I loved writing this one! Hopefully you found it helpful if you like Sezane too. As always, if you have any questions - just let me know.
